Why Lavender + Shortbread Works So Well:
Lavender’s soft, herbal-floral notes pair beautifully with the richness of butter and the delicate sweetness of sugar. Culinary Lavender offers a refined twist that turns a simple cookie into a sensory experience. With a touch of vanilla and an optional splash of Lavender Simple Syrup, this recipe is delicately fragrant without being overpowering.

What Makes These Cookies Special:

  • No fancy techniques required—just chill, roll, and bake.

  • Infused with Culinary Lavender for a boutique bakery feel at home.

  • Versatile for any occasion—gift boxes, tea trays, bridal showers, or just because.

Tips for Making Perfect Lavender Shortbread:

  • Use softened butter for the best texture—it should cream easily with the sugar.

  • Chill your dough to help the cookies hold their shape while baking.

  • Want extra lavender aroma? Gently crush the lavender buds before adding them.

  • Try cutting them into floral shapes or hearts for a charming touch.

Serving Ideas:
These cookies shine when served with a cup of earl grey, lavender chamomile, or even coffee with a splash of our Honey Lavender Syrup. Add a little edible glitter or a drizzle of white chocolate for a festive twist.

Why Use Culinary Lavender?
Unlike ornamental lavender, Culinary Lavender is safe to eat and carefully prepared to preserve its delicate flavor. It brings a floral brightness without the bitterness some people associate with lavender. When used right—like in these cookies—it’s truly magical.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup confectionary sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp Lavender Simple Syrup (optional)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp Culinary Lavender
  • 1/2 tsp coarse sea salt

Directions

  1. In a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, cream together the butter, confectionary sugar, vanilla extract, and optional lavender syrup. Beat until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the flour, Culinary Lavender, and sea salt. Mix until the dough comes together.
  3. If the dough feels sticky, add extra flour 1/8 cup at a time until you can form a smooth dough ball.
  4. Divide the dough into two balls, flatten into discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 325°F. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out to 1/4–1/2 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes.
  6. Place cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 10–13 minutes, or until the edges are just golden.
  7. Cool on a wire rack before serving. Enjoy!
