Chocolate Caramel Kisses Mug Cake

Warm chocolate, gooey caramel, and a splash of Book of Love coffee — all in one cozy mug.

When chocolate and caramel get together, it’s usually a very good idea.

This mug cake is rich, a little gooey, and deeply nostalgic — the kind of dessert you make when you want something warm and comforting without committing to a whole baking project.

Five minutes. One mug. Zero pressure.

Why we keep making this one

  • Rich chocolate with pockets of caramel.
  • Quick — microwave dessert energy in the best way.
  • Cozy enough for a night in (or a random Tuesday).
  • Flexible toppings: ice cream, whipped cream, extra drizzle… whatever.

Ingredients

  • 8 chocolate kisses
  • 2 Tbsp caramel sauce or syrup
  • 1.5 oz hot brewed Book of Love coffee
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp butter, softened or melted

Best made in an 8–10 oz microwave-safe mug.

A quick coffee note

Book of Love brings that chocolate-caramel vibe right into the batter — it’s what we’d reach for when we want the flavor to feel extra cozy.

Make sure it’s brewed hot — it helps soften the kisses and get everything moving.

How to make it

  1. In a small bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, and baking powder. Set aside.
  2. In a large microwave-safe mug, add the chocolate kisses, caramel, and butter.
  3. Pour the hot brewed coffee over the top. Cover and let sit for 45 seconds.
  4. Uncover and stir (it’s okay if the chocolate isn’t fully melted yet).
  5. Add the dry ingredients and mix until fully combined — batter should look like cake batter.
  6. Microwave 2½–3 minutes, until cooked and slightly pulling away from the sides (top will still look moist).
  7. Top as you like: whipped cream, ice cream, caramel drizzle, chocolate sauce… and dig in.

Notes & gentle extras

Equipment: A microwave-safe 8–10 oz mug, a small bowl, and a spoon. That’s it.

Want it extra gooey? Add a little more caramel before microwaving. Want it more dessert-y? Ice cream on top fixes everything.

This one’s meant to be warm, a little messy, and eaten straight from the mug.

Perfect with your love, your bestie, your mini me — or your sweet self.

Five minutes to chocolate-caramel bliss. 💕
