If you want to know how to stock up on coffee and save money doing it — the answer is simpler than you think. Buy more at once, pay less per bag, split one flat shipping cost across the whole lot. Here's how our regulars do it.

The Most Expensive Way to Buy Coffee
- One bag at a time means one shipping charge per bag — the least efficient way to shop online anywhere
- Running out mid-week and ordering in a panic is how most people end up paying full price every time
- The people who've been shopping with us for years all do some version of the same thing — they stock up
How our flights work: At Java Momma, when you add 3 or more bags to your order, an automatic discount kicks in — no code, no fiddling. 3–4 bags gets you 12% off. 5 or more gets you 15% off. Mix any flavors, any sizes, any grinds. It all counts. Full explainer here if you want the details.
The Shipping Math Nobody Talks About
We charge $9.95 flat rate shipping. That's it. Doesn't matter if you order two bags or ten. Same $9.95.
Which means the more bags you put in your order, the less each one effectively costs to ship:
| Bags in order | Shipping cost | Shipping per bag | Bag discount |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 bag | $9.95 | $9.95 | none |
| 2 bags | $9.95 | $4.98 | none |
| 3–4 bags | $9.95 | $2.49–3.32 | 12% off bags |
| 5+ bags | $9.95 | $1.99 or less | 15% off bags |
At five bags you're paying under $2 per bag to ship, and 15% less per bag. That's the sweet spot and it's where most of our regulars land.
How to Actually Build Your Coffee Stash
This is where people overthink it. It doesn't need to be complicated. Here's how to think about it:
Step 1 — Figure out how fast you go through coffee.
A half pound bag makes about 15 real 16oz mugs. If you drink two mugs a day solo, that's roughly a week's worth. A couple drinking four mugs a day between them goes through a bag in about 3–4 days. Know your rhythm and buy accordingly.
Step 2 — Think in time horizons, not bags.
Instead of "I'll buy three bags," think "I want two weeks of morning coffee sorted." That framing makes it easier. Two weeks for a solo drinker is about two bags. A fortnight for a couple is four or five. A month for a household drinking heavily? You might need six or more.
Step 3 — Mix it up, the discount still applies.
Your morning coffee doesn't have to be the same as your afternoon coffee. That's actually one of the best things about building a flight — you can grab your daily workhorse blend, something different for the weekend, a decaf for evenings, and something new you've been curious about. The discount applies to the whole order regardless.
Step 4 — Don't forget your evening ritual.
A lot of people have a daytime coffee and a different evening situation — maybe a decaf, maybe a herbal tea, maybe something from our Off Switch range. Adding those to your flight order just makes the shipping math work even harder for you.
What a Smart Stash Looks Like by Household
Solo drinker — 2 mugs a day
3–4 bags covers you for 2–3 weeks. Hit the 12% discount tier, split $9.95 shipping across the order. Grab a mix of your regular and something you haven't tried. Roughly $50–60 total and you're sorted for the month.
Couple — 4 mugs a day between you
5–6 bags gets you to the month and lands you in the 15% discount tier. Mix your favourites with a decaf for evenings. One order, one shipping charge, you're done for 4 weeks.
The household — 6+ mugs a day
You're already well into the 15% tier. Think about the 1lb bags for your everyday blend — better value per mug, fewer orders. Mix in some half pounds for variety. One big order every 3–4 weeks beats a small order every week every time.
If Planning Ahead Isn't Your Thing
Not everyone wants to think about their coffee supply. If you'd rather just have it show up automatically, our Subscribe & Save option takes 10% off every order and delivers on whatever schedule you set. Skip, pause, or cancel any time.
It's a different approach to the same goal — never running out of good coffee without paying café prices for it. Browse the range and look for the Subscribe & Save option on any product page.
Not Sure Where to Start?
If you're new here and not sure which coffees to put in your first flight, our Roaster's Choice sampler kits are the easiest way in. Pick flavored, unflavored, or a mixed kit — you get a curated selection of our bags to try before you commit to stocking up on your favourites. Most people who start with a kit end up with a pretty clear idea of what their flight should look like.
Or if you already know what you like, just head straight to the coffee collection and start building. The discount applies automatically from bag three.
The best coffee pantry isn't complicated — it's just stocked. ☕
