White Elephant Tanzanian Peaberry Coffee
The cup that makes you feel like you have your life together. Even if you don't.
Most coffee beans grow in pairs inside the cherry. Peaberry beans grow alone — one per cherry — which gives them a denser, more concentrated flavor. Tanzania's high-altitude farms are known for producing cleaner, brighter cups, and White Elephant is a straightforward example of why. Light-roasted and single-origin, it's a straightforward cup with a little something going on: a bit of citrus, a hint of honey, a quiet nutty finish. Nothing showy. Just a really good morning.

How to Brew
Light roasts are a little more opinionated about water temperature than darker roasts — too hot and you'll push the citrus notes toward bitter. Aim for 195°F and you're in good shape.
Pour-Over: Where this one really shines. 1:15 coffee-to-water ratio. 195–200°F water. Pour slow, let it bloom for 30 seconds, then finish steady. The citrus and honey notes come through clearly with this method.
Auto Drip: 1–2 tablespoons per 6 oz water. If your machine runs hot, use slightly less coffee to keep the brightness without any edge.
French Press: 1 heaping tablespoon per 4 oz water. Steep 3–4 minutes at 195°F. Press slowly. This method brings out the nutty undertones more than the others.
Single Serve (Keurig® 1.0 & 2.0): Drop in, brew, done. For the cleanest cup from a pod, use the smallest brew size your machine offers.
Cold Brew: Coarse grind. 1 cup grounds to 4 cups cold water. Steep in fridge 12–16 hours (lighter roasts extract faster than dark). Strain and serve over ice. The honey notes are particularly good cold.
FAQ
What's a peaberry and why should I care?
Most coffee cherries produce two beans that grow flat against each other. Every once in a while, one cherry produces just one bean instead — rounder, denser, and a little more concentrated in flavor. Because it's a single bean, it roasts more evenly. The result is a cup that's cleaner and more consistent than standard beans from the same crop. It's not magic, it's just how the cherry grew.
It says "light roast." Is this going to taste weak?
Light roast gets a bad reputation it doesn't deserve. It's not under-roasted — it's roasted to preserve more of the bean's natural character. White Elephant is a full-flavored cup. It's just bright and clean rather than heavy and dark. If you typically drink medium roast, this is worth trying. If you only drink dark roast, it might not be your thing — and that's fine too.
Is it single-origin?
Yes. White Elephant is 100% Tanzanian peaberry, grown at high altitude. That means the flavor profile you're tasting comes from one place, one growing region, one crop. No blending. What you get is what Tanzania grows up there.
What brewing method is best?
Pour-over is the answer if you want to taste everything this bean has to offer. But it's a good cup by any method — auto drip, French press, or single serve. The citrus notes are more prominent with pour-over; the nutty finish comes through more with French press. Brew it however fits your morning.
What grind should I choose?
Auto Drip covers most home coffee makers. French Press if you want a fuller body. Whole Bean if you grind at home — and for light roasts, fresh-grinding makes a noticeable difference if you have the option.
Is it compatible with my Keurig®?
Single serve pods work with Keurig® 1.0 and 2.0 machines. Check your machine's compatibility if you're using an older or off-brand pod brewer.
What pairs well with White Elephant?
The citrus and honey notes in this one are natural partners for anything buttery or lightly sweet — a plain croissant, a shortbread, something from our Munchies line if you want a snack alongside. It's also a good candidate for a morning rotation: lighter during the week, something bolder on weekends when you have more time to enjoy it.
