Product description

Dessert-level payoff. Coffee-level effort.

German Chocolate Cake is the dessert people make an event out of. The layers, the frosting, the toasted coconut situation — it requires commitment. This coffee requires a mug. Dark chocolate, toasted coconut, and a pecan-caramel finish, medium roast, Brazilian base, air-roasted to order.

No sugar, no sweeteners, no shortcuts. Just a cup that tastes like someone put in the effort — and that someone was us, not you.

  • Chocolate, toasted coconut, and pecan-caramel notes — the whole cake, minus the layers
  • Medium roast Brazilian base — naturally lower in acidity, smooth and easy-drinking
  • Air-roasted to order, solar-powered facility
  • Flavoring applied post-roast using custom flavoring
  • 100% Arabica
  • Zero sugar, zero sweeteners, no added carbohydrates — naturally keto-friendly
  • No gluten added — not a dedicated gluten-free facility
  • Available in whole bean, ground, and single-serve pods compatible with Keurig® 1.0 and 2.0 machines
The Beans

Roast: Medium

Base: 100% Arabica Brazilian beans

Process: Air-roasted to order using solar power

Flavoring: Applied post-roast using custom flavoring — not roasted in

Flavor Profile: Dark chocolate, toasted coconut, pecan-caramel

Availability: limited release

Brazilian beans are the foundation of this one for good reason. Grown at lower altitudes with a naturally mellow acidity, they carry bold flavors without fighting back against them — which means the chocolate and coconut notes have room to come through clearly. Medium roast keeps the sweetness intact without pushing into bitter territory. The result is a cup that drinks richer than it has any right to for a regular Wednesday.

How to Brew

German Chocolate Cake is a medium roast — it's cooperative with most brew methods. A few notes:

  • Drip / Auto-drip: Standard 1–2 tablespoons per 6 oz of water. The chocolate notes come through cleanly here. If you want more depth, nudge toward the stronger end.
  • French Press: 1 tablespoon per 4 oz, coarse grind, 4-minute steep. Produces a richer cup with more body — the coconut and caramel notes open up with the extra contact time.
  • Pour Over: Medium-coarse grind, standard 1:16 coffee-to-water ratio. Keeps the flavor profile clear and lets the pecan-caramel finish come through on the back end.
  • Cold Brew: Coarse grind, 1:4 ratio, steep 18–24 hours in the fridge. Strong, smooth, and better than any dessert coffee you've bought cold. Add milk or cream and it becomes something else entirely.
  • Single-serve pods: Compatible with Keurig® 1.0 and 2.0 machines. Use the 8 oz setting for best flavor — smaller cup size, stronger result.

This one also works well iced. Brew double-strength over ice and top with a splash of coconut milk if you want to lean into the flavor profile.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about German Chocolate Cake Flavored Coffee

Does it actually taste like German Chocolate Cake?

It does — and in a way that's recognizable without being weird. The flavor hits the three pillars of the cake: dark chocolate, toasted coconut, and that sweet pecan-caramel frosting note. It's not a novelty flavor that you have to explain to people. If you hand someone a cup without saying anything, they'll probably identify it on their own. The custom flavoring is applied after roasting, which keeps the coffee character intact underneath — so it tastes like a good cup of coffee that also happens to taste like German Chocolate Cake.

Is this coffee easy on the stomach?

It tends to be, and there are a few reasons for that. We air-roast all of our coffee — air roasting circulates heat evenly around the bean rather than scorching it against a hot surface, which generally produces a smoother, gentler cup. We also use a Brazilian bean base, naturally lower in acidity thanks to the growing altitude and processing methods used there. Add a medium roast to the mix — longer roast time means less of the compounds that can irritate a sensitive stomach — and you've got a cup that tends to sit a lot easier than most. No guarantees, because everyone's different, but if coffee and your stomach have had a complicated relationship, this is a reasonable place to start.

Is this coffee keto-friendly?

Yes — black coffee has zero sugar, zero sweeteners, and no added carbohydrates. The custom flavoring in this coffee adds no sugar either. Naturally keto-friendly as a factual product spec, not a lifestyle claim.

Does it taste sweet without adding sugar?

Yes — the custom flavoring gives it a dark chocolate, toasted coconut, and pecan-caramel character that reads as sweet without any added sugar or sweetener. Brew strength and what you add will shift how pronounced that is, but black out of the pot is genuinely good.

Do you offer a decaf version?

Yes — German Chocolate Cake Coffee is available in decaf. Same flavor, same air-roasted process, without the caffeine. Our decaf uses the Mountain Water Process, which skips the harsh chemical solvents. All the flavor, none of the 2am regrets.

What other coffees pair well with this one?

If you're into flavored coffees that lean warm and rich, our other dessert-inspired roasts are worth a look. Our snack line is also a natural companion if you want something to go with your cup.
