All the ritual. Half the reason to stare at the ceiling.
There's a version of 9pm where you still want a cup of coffee — not because you need to power through anything, but because the cup itself is the point. The warmth, the quiet, the thing that says the day is winding down on your terms. Night Owl Half Caff was made for that version of the evening. Colombian beans bring brightness and a caramel warmth; Brazilian beans — decaffeinated via Mountain Water Process — smooth it out and take the edge off the caffeine. Half the kick. The full cup.
Medium roast, air-roasted to order. The flavor profile leans bright and warm — citrusy acidity from the Colombian side, a soft caramel undertone running underneath. Not a heavy cup. Not a loud one. The kind you make when you want coffee to be the good part of the evening, not the reason you're awake at 1am reconsidering your choices.

The Beans
Night Owl Half Caff is a medium roast blend built from two origins doing two different jobs. The Colombian beans handle the flavor — bright, slightly citrusy, with a warm caramel undertone that stays smooth through a medium roast. The Brazilian beans handle the caffeine — they're present for body and balance, decaffeinated using the Mountain Water Process, which skips the chemical solvents and keeps the flavor intact.
The result is a cup with roughly half the caffeine of a standard brew, without compromising on taste or that sense that you're drinking real coffee. Roast level: Medium. Origins: Colombia and Brazil. Decaf process (Brazilian component): Mountain Water Process. Format: Whole bean, ground, and single-serve pods compatible with Keurig® 1.0 and 2.0.
A note on acidity: The Colombian component does bring some brightness — citrusy, lively, not sharp. If you have a sensitive stomach and need something gentler, our Brazilian-base coffees are a better fit. Night Owl is for the person who wants a real cup and happens to want less caffeine in it.

How to Brew
Drip / auto-drip: 1 to 2 tablespoons per 6 oz water. Adjust to taste — this blend is approachable at both ends of that range.
Pour-over: Medium grind, 1:15 coffee-to-water ratio by weight. A 30-second bloom helps open up the Colombian brightness. Brew time 3–4 minutes.
French press: Coarse grind, 1:12 ratio, 4-minute steep. Press slow. The medium roast holds up well with full immersion — you'll get more of the caramel undertone this way.
Cold brew: Works well. Coarse grind, 1:8 ratio, 12–18 hour cold steep. The citrus notes come through cleanly over ice.
Single-serve pods: Each box contains 12 single-serve cups compatible with Keurig® 1.0 and 2.0 machines. No measuring, no math — just the cup.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Night Owl Half Caff Coffee Blend
How much caffeine is actually in this coffee?
Roughly half the caffeine of a standard cup — hence the name. Caffeine content in coffee varies based on origin, roast level, and brew method, so there's no single number that's exact. As a general reference: a typical 8-oz brewed cup contains 80–100mg of caffeine; Night Owl runs approximately 40–50mg, depending on how you brew it. Enough to taste like real coffee. Not enough to keep you up replaying every decision you made in 2017.
What's the Mountain Water Process?
It's how we decaffeinate the Brazilian component of this blend — and it's worth knowing about. Mountain Water Process uses pure water to remove caffeine from the bean, rather than chemical solvents. The result is a decaffeinated bean that tastes like coffee, not like coffee that went through something unpleasant. It's the process we use across all of our decaf offerings.
Is this coffee easy on the stomach?
Partially — with an honest qualifier. The Brazilian component is naturally lower in acidity, and air roasting keeps the overall cup smoother than drum roasting would. But this blend includes Colombian beans, which do bring some brightness and a mild citrusy acidity. It's not a harsh cup, but if you have a genuinely sensitive stomach, our coffees with a pure Brazilian base will sit easier. Night Owl is the right choice when you want a real, flavorful cup with less caffeine — not specifically for low-acid needs.
Is this coffee keto-friendly?
Yes — black coffee has zero sugar, zero sweeteners, and no added carbohydrates. Night Owl Half Caff is no exception. Naturally keto-friendly as a factual product spec, not a lifestyle claim.
What's the difference between the bag and the single-serve pods?
Same coffee, different format. The bag gives you flexibility on grind size, brew method, and quantity. The single-serve pods are 12-count boxes compatible with Keurig® 1.0 and 2.0 — ready when you are, no measuring required. The pod format is particularly useful for the half-caff use case: if you're splitting the cup-making with a partner who drinks regular, you're not committing the whole bag to a single caffeine level.
Can I brew this over ice?
Yes, and it works well. The Colombian brightness holds up nicely chilled — brew double-strength over ice, or use the cold brew method (coarse grind, 1:8 ratio, 12–18 hours in the fridge). The caramel undertone comes through cleanly either way.
Do you offer a full decaf version?
Night Owl is specifically the half-caff option — if you want to go all the way, our decaf lineup is worth a look. Every Java Momma decaf uses the Mountain Water Process.
