We air-roast all of our coffee — air roasting circulates heat evenly around the bean rather than scorching it against a hot surface, which generally produces a smoother, gentler cup than drum roasting. This one's a medium roast too, which adds another layer of mellowness. No guarantees, because everyone's different, but it's a reasonable place to start if coffee and your stomach don't always get along.
Why does this coffee taste earthy and nutty if there's no flavoring added?
That's just the bean. Coffee picks up flavor characteristics from where it's grown, how it's processed, and how it's roasted — no flavoring required. This is a single-origin Sumatran coffee grown in volcanic soil, air-roasted to a medium level, and the earthy, toasted nut character with that subtle vibrant finish is naturally occurring.
