Chocolate Cherry Mocha
The best parts of love are usually the cozy ones. Warm. Indulgent. Worth sharing (or not — no one’s grading you).
This chocolate cherry mocha is the kind of drink that feels festive without needing a whole production. Sweet enough for a quiet morning, and absolutely valid as a dessert drink in the evening.
It’s also flexible on purpose: use whatever hot cocoa packet you’ve got. Chocolate cherry is fun, plain chocolate is totally fine, and if you’re sitting on something like red velvet cocoa… you’re already halfway there.

Why this one works
- Cozy and dessert-y without being complicated
- Easy to make with pantry-friendly ingredients
- Adjustable sweetness (because everyone’s “sweet enough” is different)
- Festive with whipped cream and a cherry… but still a Tuesday drink
Quick Overview
Ingredients
- 1 hot cocoa packet (chocolate cherry if you have it, or any chocolate cocoa)
- 1 tbsp chocolate syrup
- 2 oz espresso, brewed
- OR 4 oz strong brewed coffee (Sumatra Satin is lovely here)
- 4 oz milk of choice, warmed
- 1 oz cherry-flavored liqueur, optional
- Whipped cream, for topping
- Chocolate shavings, for garnish
- Cherry, for garnish
How to make it
- In your favorite mug, add the hot cocoa packet and pour in the warmed milk. Froth (or whisk) until smooth and fully combined.
- Stir in the chocolate syrup.
- Add the espresso (or strong brewed coffee) and stir again.
- If you’re using cherry liqueur, add it now and give it one more stir.
- Top with whipped cream, a dusting of chocolate shavings, and a cherry. Enjoy while it’s warm and you’re still in a cozy mood.
Notes & easy swaps
- No chocolate cherry cocoa? Use plain chocolate cocoa and add a tiny splash of cherry syrup (or even a spoon of juice from jarred cherries).
- Want it less sweet? Go light on the chocolate syrup and let the coffee do more of the talking.
- Want it extra dessert-y? Add a bit more whipped cream and chocolate shavings. It’s not subtle — that’s the point.
- Alcohol-free? Skip the liqueur. Still festive. Still cozy.
If you happen to have a flavored cocoa packet around (like red velvet), it can be a fun twist here. This drink is more about the chocolate-cherry vibe than a specific label.
