Product description

Starts blue, goes purple, asks nothing of you.

Drop a pod in a quart of cold water, put it in the fridge, and go to bed. By morning you've got a deep, fruit-forward cold brew that shifts from blue to purple the second you add citrus — no special gear, no drama, no caffeine. Just a really good glass of iced tea that happens to do a color trick.

The flavor is tropical-meets-tart: hibiscus and rose hips bring the pucker, butterfly pea flower does its thing visually, and papaya, blackberry, blueberry, and strawberry round it out into something that tastes genuinely fruity without tipping into candy. Apple pieces soften the whole thing just enough. It's bright. It's cold. It works.

Four pods per bag, each one making a quart. Keep a pitcher going, add a squeeze of lemon or lime when you pour, and watch it go from blue to purple every time. It's a small, repeatable bit of magic that happens to require zero effort.

Flavor Notes

The front is hibiscus and rose hips — bright, tart, a little cranberry-adjacent. The middle opens up into the fruit blend: papaya, blackberry, blueberry, and strawberry layered together, more lush than sharp. Apple pieces underneath the whole thing add body and soften the tartness without sweetening it. The finish is clean and a little floral from the butterfly pea flower. Add citrus and the color shifts; the flavor sharpens up and the tartness comes back to the front.

Steeping Cheat Sheet

Cold Brew (recommended):
Drop one pod into one quart (32 oz) of cold water. Into the fridge overnight — 8–12 hours minimum. Pull the pod, pour over ice, add citrus if you want the color shift. No strainer, no infuser, no gear. A pitcher or mason jar is all you need.

Hot Steep:
Place one pod in a heatproof pitcher or large mug. Add 32 oz of just-boiled water (212°F). Steep 5–7 minutes. Remove pod, let cool, pour over ice. The hot method works — cold brew is just better here. The fruit opens up slower and brighter cold.

Hot vs. Iced

Cold brewed: Deep, fruit-forward, smooth. The color shift from blue to purple happens when you add citrus to the glass. Fruit notes are rounded and layered; hibiscus is present but not sharp. Serve over ice with a squeeze of lemon or lime.

Hot steeped: Brighter and more tart up front, with hibiscus more prominent. Lighter body than the cold brew. Works well as a hot cup in cooler weather — or steep hot and chill it down for a quicker iced option when you don't have overnight time. Still does the color trick with citrus once it's cold.

FAQ

Is this tea caffeinated?
No — this is an herbal blend with no tea base, so it's naturally caffeine-free. Any time of day works.

How do I make cold brew with this?
Drop one pouch into one quart of cold water. Into the fridge overnight — or at least 8–12 hours. Pull the pouch, pour over ice, done. No strainer, no infuser, no gear required. A pitcher or mason jar is all you need.

How does the color-changing thing actually work?
Butterfly pea flower brews blue naturally. When you add something acidic — lemon juice, lime juice, even orange juice — the pH shifts and the color goes purple. It's a real chemical reaction, not a dye or additive. Add more citrus, get a deeper purple. It's repeatable every time you pour.

How long does cold brew keep in the fridge?
3–4 days in a sealed container. Keep it covered and cold between pours.

Does this taste sweet without adding sugar?
It has a naturally fruity and bright character that reads as sweet without any added sugar or sweetener. The papaya and berry notes carry the sweetness; hibiscus and rose hips add tartness that balances it out. How sweet it tastes depends on brew strength and what you add, but it's genuinely good on its own.

What other teas pair well with this one?
If you like easy, no-fuss iced tea that actually tastes like something, our other cold brew pods are worth a look. Our loose leaf teas are there when you want more control over the brew.
