The Beginning of Java Momma: all roads led up to this point

See this woman?  This was me, three years ago at my very first direct sales event.  I signed up to sell Usborne Books and More, not knowing a thing about what I was doing.  I was hoping to get a discount, a little side income and social interaction.  When you joined Java Momma, what did you want?  Discount or extra income – or was it more?  I was starting at the beginning.  It’s where we all start somewhere along the way.  No one is born with business sense.  It’s developed over time. And direct sales business is an entirely different model.  So back to my beginning…

I am a go big or go home type of person, so I called every pre-school in my area to schedule book fairs.  Once I had one yes (after a bunch of No’s), I called the local newspaper and told them I was having a book fair at this particular pre-school, on this particular day.  I got there early, set up (having no idea how to set up) and talked to parents (having no idea what to say).  I was so scared, but I did it anyway because how else was I going to learn other than by doing.

From that point on, there wasn’t much that intimidated me.  I got a lot of no’s, but for all of those no’s, I got a bunch of yeses!  I mastered events, then home parties, on to online parties, then sponsoring.  I was building a team and moving up the ranks.  But, as you see – I started like everyone else.

It was through hard work and learning.  None of this came to me over night, but it was with failure, success, failure, success (see a theme here?) and repetition that I was able to find the things that worked for me.  I invested in training, and that was the biggest turning point in my business.  Once I truly treated my direct sales gig as a business, everything changed.

I found LuLaRoe in November 2015 and that was a lightening bolt for me.  I didn’t even think of the income potential.  I was intrigued by the uniqueness of the brand and sales model.  Signed up in January 2016 and it was a whirlwind from there.

I am proud of what I have learned and shared with others along the way, and because of all of that knowledge, Java Momma is here and thriving.  We are a relationship based networking marketing company that recognizes that, no matter where you are in this business, there is a place for you.

We all start at the beginning.  Where you go from there is your decision.  What are your goals?  There isn’t anything you can’t do with a “little side gig.”
