About Java Momma

The idea for Java Momma came about in September 2017. Melissa and Brian Shoop came up with the basic concept for Java Momma at their kitchen table one Friday night. The focus would be on relationships from the very start. A company built from the ground up to serve the needs of fellow direct sellers, with the focus on customer relationships. Java Momma cares about the community, providing leadership to our baristas, maintaining your trust, and product integrity.

Meet the Java Momma team

Melissa Shoop

Melissa Shoop

CEO & President

I am the CEO and President of Java Momma.  Before all this awesomeness, I was a major “kitnapper” in many direct sales companies, a consultant in a few that I ran as a business, and still a loyal shopper of many.  I am married to Brian (you’ll read his story in a minute) and between us, we have eight kids, three grandkids – one on the way, and three dogs and two cats.

I’m Brian! Husband to Melissa, CFO of Java Momma. I also work full time for Geisinger Health System as a Computer Analyst. I’ve been there for 30 years. The thing I love most is all the adventures Melissa and I have with her brainstorms.

Tami Olsen

Tami Olsen

Director of Operations - Vice President

Hi! I am Tami, the Director of Operations for Java Momma! This means I do a lot of behind the scene things like ordering, emails, training, organization and such. My favorite thing about Java Momma is the coffee of course, Unicorn Blend to be specific! I have always loved direct sales, starting way back when attending parties with my mom all the way up through various direct sales businesses! I live in Boise, ID and work for Java Momma remotely. I am married to Larry and we have two teenagers and a dog named Penny.

Brie Porterfield

Brie Porterfield

Creative Director and Brand Developer - Secretary

Hi! I am Brie and I am the Creative Director and Brand Developer for Java Momma. I am lucky enough that I get to work remotely from home here in Alabama. I get to do all of the pretty stuff. Graphics are my baby and I love how much fun and sass we get to pour into them. The thing I love the most about Java Momma is not just the product, but the community and heart. When Melissa says we are a relationship built company, she was not kidding. I have met some amazing people that I now get to call friends. I am also a Wife to Tom and we have 3 kiddos, a teenager, a tweenager and a toddler! He was our blessing and surprise. I am now a tea master and am currently obsessing over our teas.

Carol Sendelbach

Carol Sendelbach

Vice President of Finance and Accounting

Hi! I am Carol and I’m the Vice President of Finance and Accounting here at Java Momma. I live in Northern California and love being able to work remotely for Java Momma. For those that have been around since the beginning, I’m also known as ‘Caffeinated Auntie Carol’. My two favorite blends are the Peaberry and the Dragon’s Blend, yum! I have 2 amazing kids that are now in their early 20’s, my coffee drinking is now more about the experience and less about trying to keep up with young children. I admire everything that Java Momma represents and proves that – “Behind every successful woman is a substantial amount of coffee.”

Hi! I’m Bonnie, Java Momma Community Manager! I’m here for support, encouragement, and to remind you to be your best self, while building your empire! My favorite thing about being a community manager is being able to spend my time with and watch the personal and business growth that happens daily! My colleagues at the home office are incredibly inspiring, supportive and they own their awesome. This company is full of incredible Baristas who are building their empires and lifting each other and making a change. It’s incredible, and I couldn’t be more proud to be apart of something so amazing. Plus, I get to drink coffee all day, everyday who would hate that? I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend my days!

Lindsey Pierce

Lindsey Pierce

VP of Field Development

Lindsey Pierce has over 10 years in the direct sales industry and is our VP of Field Development- assisting to train new baristas and leaders. Part of what she loves about the industry is the flexibility and relationships it has brought to her.  Her husband and boys are her world so working from home has always been something important.

She loves Java Momma’s model because of the open and non-restrictive way that the business is allowed for, haven’t seen another direct sales business like it.  Baristas can really bring their creativity and make it their own.  Not a coffee drinker, she loves the Peppermint cocoa and the calming teas.

Copy Editor

Hi, all! I’m Erin and I’m the copy editor for Java Momma, AKA the grammar police. Basically, I proofread our publications and graphics before they go out, making sure the spelling and grammar are correct and that everything makes sense in general. I live in a tiny town in Southeastern Ohio with my husband, Stacy and cat-child, Zoe. When I’m not silently correcting your grammar, I’m also a self-taught photographer and have been blessed to be able to live out my dreams of owning and operating my own photography business.

I dabble in many things; crafting, candles, photography and making people smile are just a few things I love to do! In JM I have found another family who not only supports my business goals but also all of my personal goals. Everyone at JM has made me feel so at home that I look forward to coming to the office every day! AND I get to do ALL of the things I love!?! All I could ever ask for I can achieve with my home away from home.

The opportunity to join the java momma “family” came kinda unexpectedly. People want a great product and have it delivered in a timely manner, Java Momma hit that nail right on the head and it’s Jamaican me crazy that I was given the opportunity to grow with an amazing company such as Java Momma.

The reason why I I joined Java Momma was that my mom started a Business and I wanted to help her. I worked every once and a blue moon and I liked it so much that when I needed a job I knew that Java Momma was the perfect fit and the bonus I would be working with wonderful people.  Eventually, I want to be an auto body guy, welding and mechanics specifically. In my spare time, I ride dirt bike, 4 wheelers and work on cars. I’m glad to work at Java Momma.

I have had the great privilege of seeing the start of Java Momma and I am constantly amazed by how far we have gone! I am very thankful to be a part of this amazing business, and have awesome co-workers! I am hoping to be a future educator in any school/early intervention agency! My hobbies include sleeping, cuddling with my dogs, coloring in my coloring books, talking to my fiance. But the most ironic part of this job is the fact that I don’t drink coffee. But I love smelling the coffee and tasting the different hot chocolates that Java Momma have to offer!
